xfree86

I got xfree86 working but I can't seem to get a decent monitor resolution. The ctrl-alt-+ doesn't seem to work. The config file doesn't seem to have that feature turned off. I also tried removing all references to a 320x200 resolution from my config file. This didn't change anything. After that I tried adding an 800x600 resolution to the config file by hand. When I tried to do it using XF86Setup my monitor couldn't accept the input. The monitor is capable of handling a resolution of 800x600. I finally tried removing all references to the 640x480 resolution listed in the config file so that the only resolution it should be able to pick is the 800x600 resolution that I entered by hand. This still didn't change anything. I'd appreciate any ideas for what I should try next.

You might wabt to try running xf86config and make sure you have the right vertical and horizontal synch ranges in it for your monitor, and make sure you have the right module loaded for your video card. hope that helps ya out some.
