Xfree86 4.3 Problem on Exit

I boot to default run level 3, (text mode). I login, and run startx to startup my x windows.

Everything works well, although my resolution is still giving me problems. I have a 15.2" widescreen but it's only displaying in 800x600.

Anyways, when I logout, I don't get a nice terminal screen anymore. My screen is solid black, and there is a faint white line towards the bottom. I can push enter, and run commands, but I don't actually get to see what I am running.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, were you able to fix it and how? Or, does anyone have any pointers for me? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

you can restart the monitor! But it is little uncomfortable.
I've noticed that it wont go 'blank' in every logout,
I guess it does it randomly.
