xfree86 4.2.99.5 on mandrake 9.0 help!

I need some help.. I used cooker to install xfree86 4.2.99.5 on mandrake 9.0 and now fonts wont render in KDE, and everything looks funny. (see link below).. I can get into GNOME and everything works fine. But if I try and run a KDE program, or go into Mandrake config I get I mess if the program even starts up.. How can I go back to the older xfree86 so I can fix this mess? The reason I did this was to install KDE 3.1.. But I'd rather have my system working... I didn't know xfree86 would mess everything up.

got the 100dpi and 75dpi foints installed?

if you want to revert to the older ones then you'll need to maybe just run "urpmi XFree86" and assuming that you do not have the cooker source on your media lists in urpmi, it should say that it needs to remove the old ones and then install again. if that doesn't work though, you'll want to install the XFree86.blah.rpm with "rpm -Uvh --oldpackage XFree86.blah.rpm" this will chuck out dependencies, so just add the additional file names on to the same command line and *eventually* you'll get there.

hmmm

So if I installed the the 100dpi and 75dpi fonts it would work? How would I do that.. I'm a newbie... All I know how to use is cooker and now it's inop.

well i don't really nkow if it would work... but there are XFreebr-100dpi-fonts.blah.rpm and -75dpi rpms that you should install as part of a complete installation. rpmfind.net

The font packages are already installed... Do you have any idea what it could be if it's not the font packages?
