xfce4 repeatedly launches autostart applications on second login

Hi!

I'm running xfce4 on Xubuntu 8.04, and recently it's developed this weird issue for which I can't seem to find a fix.

It happens when I log in, log out, and try to log in a second time. The second time all my autostart processes (both the ones in /etc/xdg/autostart and ~/.config/autostart) get launched repeatedly until I've got hundreds of each running and the machine freezes up. It does not happen on other user accounts.

Any idea what could be causing this, as it's a real pain having to reboot every time I want to log back in?

Thanks,

buginprogram

Don't take it personally, we're just volunteers.

try rm'ing ~/.cache/sessions with
Code:
rm -fr ~/.cache/sessions
I don't save my sessions on logout, but yet this directory gets populated for some reason.

Mine used to get populated as well, which caused various other problems. Ultimately I emptied and then locked it so it didn't happen again.

But this issue is more recent, and it only occurs when I log in again before rebooting (which is not the case with the various issues I've seen with the sessions cache).
