XFCE4 is slow
 

Hi, When using XFCE4, in Gentoo when moving from one program to other, like XFCE it like "stuck" for some time, What is the problem and how can I fix it up?

it's hard to say... does the problem only occur in xfce?? have you tested other environments?? what exact version of xfce are you using?? when did it start behaving like this?? does it act like this from the start, or after you do certain things??

Probably a program is accessing the disk. Is updatedb running?

i've noticed something like this happens on my box when i use Google Spreadsheets (via Firefox)... it's like a certain lag is introduced into the mix... the windows take a couple seconds to draw when maximized, minimized, etc... it's weird... but it only happens when i'm using Google Spreadsheets, so i suspect it's a Firefox-related issue... not sure if it happens with somehting else, like fluxbox, but i'll try later... i do notice high cpu usage for X11 in general when i'm working on a spreadsheet, not just firefox...

i'm on slackware 10.2 with firefox 1.5.0.4 and xfce 4.2.2...
