Why aren't you doing apt-get install xfce4?

Also, is that the first error message? Sometimes error 2 through $ are fixed when you fix error 1.

Try apt-get build-dep the-xfce-package-you-are-compiling.

Read and 'Reporting Bugs effectively' (which smart questions links to).
