XF86Config file
I installed the latest release of Fedora Core obtained from the RedHat site, a set of 4 cds. The install went smoothly and I set up a dual boot system so I could start the machine on Windows XP or Linux. However, when I booted on Linux, it didn't start the X server, and complained about the XF86Config file. Here's the message I got regarding the "Keyboard" section of the file-
"Meta is not a valid keyword in this section" (EE) Problem parsing the config file (EE) Error parsing the config file Fatal server error no screens found I looked at the relevant line(s) in the XF86Config file. They are as follows- LeftAlt Meta RightAlt Meta ScrollLock Compose RightCtl Control So right now I have no gui, only command line... not a good situation. No Internet etc. etc. Any help will be appreciated. P.S. I am a newbie. |

Is your video card driver listed properly? Could you post the complete file? Which video card do you have?
BTW I don't think it's about your keyboard. It sounds more like your video card needs to be configured or the driver corrected in the file, |
Fixed the problem. I initially tried commenting out the offending lines from the XF86Config file, but that didn't work. It just complained about a later line. So I essentially removed the file (renamed it). Now it all works.
