xf86config

I can't find the xf86config program....

I'm quite new with linux, so I dont really want to manually edit the file, but the xf86config program is not included in my distro (Pingo). I'm having problems with my radeon 8500....

Anybody know where I can download it?

If I am not mistaken pingo is a redhat rpm based distro. So you could go to rpmfind.net and search for xfree86. You could also go to http://www.xfree86.org/

Good Luck!

I know nothing about Pingo. In slackware, xf86config and xf86cfg are in /usr/X11R6/bin/

You can change to root, updatedb then locate xf86config to find it

remember that you can use xf86cfg (or xf86xfg --textmode) to modify XF86Config as well.

Does your path include /usr/X11R6/bin? Try (as root) the absolute path
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config
