xdrawchem installation and use

Hello-
I'm hoping there is an off-chance someone has successfully installed xdrawchem. I really would like to have it up and running, as the only thing that requires me to use a Windows machine is Chemdraw. Being a chemist, I must be able to draw chemical structures.

Installing xdrawchem requires:
1) open babel
2) qt 3

I have installed both, and put them in the PKG_CONFIG path so the xdrawchem program can see them and install itself. But it is still buggy, and crashes, and won't work right. It is supposedly stable, so I assume it must not have installed correctly with all the dependencies.

Has anyone else ever installed xdrawchem?

If so, pleeeeease help me!

I'm using Slackware 9.1 and gnome (which might not make any difference, but thought I'd throw in).

Thanks.

I has a version up about 1 year ago --1.6.8 and it was pretty good.

is where you should look for answers, unless you are getting errors like
file not found. What errors are you seeing?
