XDMCP setup problem

Hi all,

Trying to setup XDMCP on Fedora Core 6 box.
After googling around I found this step-by-step guide:
The step-by-step guide:

1. edit /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config
Comment out the last line as indicated in the file.

2. edit /etc/X11/xdm/kdmrc
find the section [XDMCP]
change enabled=true

3. edit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
find the section [XDMCP]
change enabled=true

4. restart X.

But there is no gdm directory under /etc/X11. Where can this be ?
Where are the configuration files of gdm package ?

"rpm -qi gdm" gives me results the package is installed.
I am able to run "gdmsetup" but still no result.
"netstat -na | grep 177" no result. This means that gdm is not
up and running right?
How can I make it run ? Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

/etc/gdm

otherwise use locate or slocate

locate gdm

or even rpm to query the files that are in the gdm rpm

XDMCP setup problem

'/etc/gdm' contains a file named 'custom.conf'.
There is no 'gdm.conf'...
What should I do with this file 'custom.conf'?
How am I supposed to start gdm (XDMCP server),
there is no '/etc/init.d/gdm' shell script at all ?
Nobody is listening to UDP/177 port ...

Then put this one and add what you want:

XDMCP setup propblem

After a lot of frustration, I did the following:
1. updated gdm using 'yum'
2. checked '/etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config'
3. checked '/etc/X11/xdm/kdmrc'
4. run 'gdmsetup' again
5. open ports UDP/177, TCP/177, TCP/6000
6. reboot
And 'voila' XDMCP is up and running, I have remote console using Xmanager.
It seems that gdm yjat ships with FC6 is broken.

If you're on GNOME, you can use the Login Window control panel to set your XDMCP preferences.
