XDMCP Problems
 

I am running CentOS 5.2 with the latest updates.

I have been trying to log into this linux system from my PC using xming over my local network.

I read the detailed instructions given in a number of places and followed them correctly, so that lets me login as root to the linux box over xdmcp.

problem is, when i use the same configuration and want to login over the internet from a remote location or a different pc using xming, it does not connect. gray screen with x, no connection.

to test it properly, i disbaled the firewall, removed iptables and put the linux server directly on the internet, not behind any router or firewall.

still nothing. local network login works perfect so it means my xdmcp settings are probably correct. does this have something to do with dn reverse lookup or something like that?

what am i doing wrong. please assist with detailed steps for newbie.
