Xdm and login backgrounds.

Hi.

I'm pulling my hair out by the roots. I've been trying to add a background image to my login screen, and several hours of effort have gotten me absolutely nowhere. I've managed to customize the login window to suit my tastes, but i can't seem to be able to add a simple background.

I've tried adding xsetroot/fbsetgb/xv commands to Xsetup_0, i've scoured all the xdm config files for traces of anything background-related, i've googled, i've asked on IRC... nothing. Please, help me. I'm really sick of that default gray mesh.

Thank you for reading this.

Edit: Oh, and i'd like to avoid gdm/kdm if at all possible.
