I'm trying to set up transparent terminal windows (aterm) using xcompmgr and transset in fluxbox (and xorg). I haven't completely set up aterm to run this way from the fluxbox menu, but several times in my tests fluxbox crashed on me. Well I don't know what crashed...but it wasn't pretty. This is what happened:
Ran xcompmgr from terminal with opacity set to .5
I ran transset from another terminal, and set a third terminal window to be the transparent:
(then clicked on the terminal window to be transparent)
All was fine until I switched to another desktop...something (or several things) crashed hardcore. Everything cut out on me, leaving a blank screen and a completely unresponsive. I had to do a hard reboot. This has only happened a few times. It isn't really consistent though; I tried to do all of the things I did before to recreate the problem, to no avail of course.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or any ideas?
If this happens a couple more times I might check the gentoo bugzilla. (yea I'm running gentoo) I originally though it was xcompmgr, though transset is the "unstable" (masked in portage) package...so maybe that would make sense?
Thanks~
