You should not have too much trouble installing glib. It is part of the GIMP Toolkit and can be found at http://www.gtk.org. Check out the downloads area for the different source tar balls you will need. They also have installation guides to help you through it.

If you use RedHat or another distribution that uses rpm's for updates you'll be able to download the required rpm's, install, and ready to try configuring xcdroast again. I don't have experience with many other distributions so you'll need to use the method above or figure out how they handle updates.

Okay, we've determined that the error message coming from the configure script tells us it can't find the script glib-config. Let's try this...

Execute the command,
whereis glib-config

You should get a reply something like,
glib-config: /usr/bin/glib-config /usr/share/man/man1/glib-config.1.gz

To correct the error, the message indicates that you can either fix your PATH environment variable or set a new variable called GLIB_CONFIG

Now check your PATH environment variable with,
echo $PATH

You'll get a reply something like,
/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/java/j2k1.4.2_02/bin:/home/userxyz/bin

In my case /usr/bin is within the paths and the xcdroast configure script would have no problem finding glib-config.

If it were missing I could temporarily add it using the bash command,
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/bin
-or-
Another option is to set the GLIB_CONFIG variable,
export GLIB_CONFIG="/usr/bin/glib-config"

You should then be able to run ./configure and get through this problem. Good luck.

glib-config does not exist

I've been trying to install xcdroast 0.98 alpha 15. My system came with this but I had to un install the rpm and re-install the source in order to enable the modern_cdrecord_patch. but it refuses to configure becouse it can't find glib-config. I've installed glib several ways including the newest source, but it still won't create the glib-config file. I'm getting very frustrated. I've had Xcdroast installed and running for years and now it won't even install.
What's Up?

On most distributions glib-config is part of the glib-devel package. Try installing that package and see what happens.
