While you are learning the php you might consider xampp which is a complete lamp suite of Apache, php and mysql etc that sits entirely in /opt/lampp, so when you have finished developing you can inspect the php and apache config files set up as good examples and get rid of of the environment simply by effectively deleting /opt. Great for development, but not recommended for production. It would make a good quick playground that will allow you to make a few mistakes with relative impunity.
