XawTV, problems

I'm a happy Mandrake user which thought ĦI have a TV card and no TV programs! I installed XawTV (with all its dependencies, or that's what DrakConf says) and ran it. The first time, asked me about PAL and so on, then it opened a terminal and closed it inmediatly. I clicked XawTV again, and it tried to load but didn't start. This is what konsole shows:

[alex@box alex]$ xawtv
This is xawtv-3.93, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.3-7mdksmp)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

Thank you in advance.

what card do you have? have you loaded the right driver module for it (bttv / saa7134 / cx88) ? did the image show in the first instance? does running "dmesg" show ay errors about the drier that might have been loaded? if it ever worked, does it work again after a reboot? do you definitely not have /dev/v4l/video0?

I don't know what card I have (I should have written it down, shouldn't I?) About the driver, I am a newbie, all I knew is Mandrake detected it in the installation, so I only installed XawTV and nothing more (maybe that's the problem ).

[alex@box alex]$ cd /dev/v4l/video0
bash: cd: /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
