xawtv and pvc-150: no audio/video
 

I have a pvc-150 in my Suse 10 box and usually use mythTV, but since Myth only seems to let me record at set times that correspond to TV shows, I need to use something else if I'm going to capture from a video tape. With an old TV card I always used xawtv, but now, when I try to run it, I just get a black window and no sound. When I click on the window, it does pop up a list of stations, but clicking on them doesn't change anything. And in the options menu, I can't change the source (from cable to composite, for instance). In fact, it doesn't even show the source.

I ran xawtv -h and it mentioned a $HOME/.xawtv directory, but it doesn't seem to exist.

Is xawtv the best option for what I'm trying to do, and if so, what did I screw up in the configuration?
