Talking XavierP help with more mplayer??


Hey i just had a question. what is the directory that mplayer uses, i cant seem to find it, then what do i do to get the skins, fonts, and codecs to work? thanks again your awesome.

What do you mean the directory that mplayer uses? Like for configuration's or where the command is stored? Usually you can put configurations in your home directory in the .mplayer directory...

More details?

yea i just want to install the skins, fonts and codecs so it can run under a gui, can you explain that?

for me, skins and fonts are located in /usr/share/mplayer. if the skins or fonts aren't working, check the permissions. something like "chmod -R 755 /usr/share/mplayer" while su'ed as root.

codecs for me are in /usr/lib/win32

as far as getting mplayer to work with codecs, i'm not sure as i haven't done this with mplayer, but i think you have to recompile mplayer with codec support.

still getting permissions issues when i do chmod -R 755 /usr/share/mplayer in root
