I installed xandros linux tonight and played with it a little bit. the main things I don't like is the lack of a few features like installing over http/ftp, and te fact that most versions you have to pay for. but I do like the gui interface it comes with and the programs you can install and everything.
after that, I installed fedora core 4 on the same machine. it turns out after using xandros, I don't really care for the gnome gui that comes with it. I always run into weird interface problems and things not where they should be. so I'm currently installing xandros again, and plan to use it as a multimedia machine.
now my question:
is there a gui or set of configs or something that I can install on a fedora 4 or 5 machine, or centos, to get a gui more like the one in xandros?
exandros is debian? I just tried to install xmms and it said something about using alien to install on debian systems. I've never dealt with debian before.
The default gui for xandros is KDE, which should be fairly easy to install into Fedora. Haven't used Fedora myself, but the easiest way would be to use the package manager yum. To switch at the login screen click on session and select KDE.
If you're trying to install xmms in a debian based syatem (like Xandros) you can do this with the command apt-get install xmms. There's also probably a gui package manager, possibly synaptic, though there's a couple other ones out thre.

is there a way to set up the same interface in kde that xandros has in a fedora box? all the same skins and mouse actions and everything.
For the themes it's probably available somewhere, good place to start might be at kde-look.org. The rest is pretty configurable. Without having used xandros I couldn't tell you how much is default kde and how much needs to be configured though
