x11vnc error

Has anyone seen the following error when running xvnc11:

XOpenDisplay failed (:0)

I compliled both xvnc11 and libvncserver. Both seemed to compile fine. I am runing this on Fedora Core 1 that has alll packages installed (everything option in anaconda). I know I have all the required libraries and stuff. Here is the complete output from x11vnc:

[mediaboy@brain mediaboy]$ x11vnc -display :0 -rfbauth .vnc/passwd

You do have a current X-Session running when you are doing this right? That error basically means it doesn't detect an active X-Session on display :0
