x-system wont start

I am running REdhat 8 and I've had this problem twice, the first time i just formatted and things worked ok, but now its happened again and I dont want a quick fix like that. I rebooted and now my x-system won't start. It's been working for a few months but out of the blue it stopped. Anyone know how tofix this? (Sorry I'm being so vague let me know if you need more specific info and what u need)

Without going through step by step, the most usual cause is

1) Do you have the lines

Section "Files"
Fontpath "unix/:7100"

in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file?

2) If so, is xfs running when you start X? If it is not, then X will never start.

And why did you not post the last few lines of

/var/log/XFree86.0.log

to show the reason why X was not starting?
