X-server corrupted on FC5

Good Day,

I have finally finished installing everything i needed on my Fedora Core 5 box and the damn x-server corrupted on me. Frustrating to say the least. I am not certain if this is the proper solution, but I wanted to reset the x-server to default and then go from there. In the past this has served me well with display issues. Problem is that I do not recall how to ssh into the box and do this????? Can anyone please help a desperate guy out? I made this Fedora box my main PC and without it I have nothing.......

Managed to put two and two together and figure this all out. There is not too much documentation out there on the issue so I will provide a solution that I found here.

The error message that pops up on the FC5 machine is not very helpfull. Display of the logfile is not either because it does not show the whole log. That is what first stumped me. So you have to do the following:

take a look at "/var/log/xorg.0.log" and see if you can find the error message. It is hidden well in this log file because it is quite verbose, but you will find it.

In the case that I was seeing, it was a error loading the fonts. (you can google error message). From what I can guess, apparently when updating some mplayer fonts I f%$ed up the link. So i had to manually add the links, under the "files" section, of /etc/X11/xorg.conf

You need to post an error for any help

Yeah, that is the solution. Found the solution and wanted to make sure to share what I did.
