What distro is it for, coz apt/synaptic differ slightly according to distro.

But if you are looking for the sources.list entries or yum.conf ones, and don't want to extract them from the packages, you can look at the latest versions of those files by going to the apt build page and the yum build page."

Try sticking with one main repository like freshrpms.

I hadn't looked at all of your signature. Well if using Redhat, follow the directions above, you will find that apt/synaptic is a veery good tool. If you are interested in trying something else, there is also another package management tool called YUM.

I see that yum has source cde downloadable, what about apt ? I cant find the source anywhere :X

HUH ? looks like yum is not an X program is it ?
it also seems to require python.........

you don't need my signature, all you need to tell me is where the source is
