X.org Help?

I have an Nvidia GeForce 5200 AGP 128 MB, latest drivers and kernel 2.6.7
my problem is that ever since X.org took over my gaming experence has been $hit. In WineX or Cedega I used to be able to run Max Payne at full frames (60+) with everything enabled but since X.org 6.8.1 my computer can't run anything. Is there some magical way to speed up X.org that I'm not aware of? (Yes I use NV clock and it doesn't help one bit. )

My X.org is set up as follows

Display mode is set at 16bit bpp
GLX is enabled
Video driver is "nvidia"
Video RAM is 128mb

GLX gears reports I get anywhere from 1300 to 1600, I used to get 1600 - 2000
Can anyone help me?

Have you tried updated opengl:
opengl-update nvidia

During the regular xorg update, it may have defaulted to opengl-update xorg

Cool

I thought that was a Gentoo only script?
