Question X on redhat 7.2 (nvidia) compiled kernel

Hi, everybody!

I have a little prob.:

I have compiled my kernel (rh 7.2) and added the nvidia drivers for linux (from www.nvidia.com) and my X won't start on the compiled version.

I have the XFree86 log but I don't know what could I make of it.
The log contains the line:
"(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to obtain a shared memory identifier"

If somebody could help me I would be very thankful.

Is that the only line that started with (EE)? Maybe post about the last 20 or so lines of XFree86.log.

You compiled your own kernel? Did you then use the .tar.gz files, or the .rpm files for your NVidia drivers?

I managed to make it work

That was the only (EE) line ...

I never compiled the nvidia drivers UNDER the compiled kern.
(Pretty stupid - i'm a rookie)

Thanks to everybody

PS:Not everybody can access Internet on a daily basis....
