X not working because of update from 4.3 to 4.4 RC3
Installed XFree 4.4 RC3 on Mdk 9.2 and lost video mode
So I tried to install XFree 4.4 RC· cuz I've been said that it has DRI support for my gfx Sis 630, so I downloaded all th files that I thought it need (in the Xfree site they don't say what files to download, so I downloaded almost all that were non repeated in the download directory for 4.4) and i make sh Xinstall.sh, I think I trusted to much in the installation because I make it overwrite all the configuration files, and now when I try to boot linux it can't start the x server and I get errors but when I'm in text mode I type startx and I get the errors but it loads a graphic interface with many consoles on it but of course it it's far different from what I had before and I can't load any of the apps that have GUI. Is anybody having the same trouble? Any advice on this would be great I'm a total nwbie :newbie: so step-by-step would be nice. Here is a list of the errors I get: _XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/200:0 _XSERVTransMake AllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6 ..... ..... /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/kernel/drivers/video/sis/sisfb.o.gz : init_module: no such device modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/kernel/drivers/video/sis/sisfb.o.gz failed modprobe: insmod sis failed.
