X (gui's) on GNU/Linux and FreeBSD

I've heard that, for graphical environments, GNU/Linux outperforms *BSD.

Is this true? Never played with BSD and am curious to hear your thoughts on its graphical performance

Arguable, at best. The same graphics engine (XFree) is used on both. The only difference then is the kernel. The 2.5 series improves interactive response quite a bit.
