X Fonts Gone! Help!

Hi, I am writing using links. I cannot open any program that uses X fonts. Somehow I have messed this up. When I run emacs, I get "Fatal error (11).Segmentation fault". When I run xmms, I get "Gtk-ERROR **: Unable to load default font." When I run mathematica, I get "X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist). Obviously, I am having MAJOR font problems. I was editing my XF86Config to configure some mathematica fonts...turns out that I didn't need to because they were working fine. Then I ran some xls and xset command and cancelled one halfway though. Could that have broken it? I know that the fonts are still there. I believe that the X server doesn't know where to find them. I have restarted xfs but that hasn't fixed it. I am afraid to restart because I don't think that my current X session will load again. Actually, I am quite suprised that I am still working. Could someone help me get my fonts back?
