X fails when ATI fglrx driver installed
Hello again. Still trying to get ATI drivers installed...this time I'm on Fedora Core 2 instead of Mandrake. The RPM installs fine...the module build goes well...modprobe appears to work...then I go like this to get the driver to work with Xorg instead of XFree:
cd /etc/X11 mv xorg.conf xorg.conf.backup ln -sf XF86Config-4 xorg.conf ...but when I restart X I can't get a display, and here's the diagnostics. I know my mouse is failing in there too, but first things first! My display takes priority over my input device. To this end I've highlighted the relevant part of the diag Code:
Release Date: 18 December 2003 My kernel, which is a custom vanilla, has modular support for /dev/agpgart, MTRR enabled, kernel debugging disabled, and DRI Manager disabled (I get the same thing if I enable this) |
little help?

What motherboard do u have, chipset? Also when running fglrxconfig there is a question that asks wether u want too use the built in agpgart or a external module, u answered?

There are new drivers available from http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/l...8&submit=GO%21

The problem you're experiencing is that one of the modules doesn't compile on fedora core 2.
Download and install the new, just released drivers (3.11), they should work just fine. |
