X does not start on FC6

Hello folks,
I had FC1 on my desktop, working quite smoothly.
Recently I upgraded to FC6, and to my horror I find that X is not working.
Below are the warnings and Errors picked up from the log.

Warnings
Quote:

(WW) No monitor specified for screen "Screen0".
(WW) The core pointer device wasn't specified explicitly in the layout.
(WW) No FontPath specified. Using compiled-in default.
(WW) I810(0): Bad V_BIOS checksum
(WW) I810(0): Detected stolen memory (8000 kB) doesn't match what the BIOS reports (320 kB)
(WW) I810(0): Extended BIOS function 0x5f11 not supported.
(WW) I810(0): Bad V_BIOS checksum
And Errors
Quote:

(EE) I810(0): No Video BIOS modes for chosen depth.
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
How does one get out of this ?

Any help, friends.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried running "system-config-display" ? It should automatically configure your X server for you.

Thanks.

I have tried, but not exactly by this command.

I have run setup. Which gives you setup options menu for many things. Among them is one related to X. But unfortunately that too has failed.

In fact, I first installed FC6 on my PC at my workplace. There it is working perfectly. But the PC at my home is not so. BYy default this PC tried to go to GUI after installation, but it could not. Then I changed the default run level to 3,and tried to do experiments.
Surprisingly the installation was done graphically.

I will try the "system-config-display" and let you know the result.
Next time I will also post the last 20 lines of the log.

Meanwhile, I have installed all xorg packages from the five CDs. But this too has not been of much use.

Thanks.

The issue has been sorted out, and I am out of the mess.

Thank You!

In a moment of genius I enabled dual head monitors on a Thinkpad T41 running RHEL4 and found that each login took me straight back to the login prompt (gnome).

When I booted to init 3 and ran system-config-display I was able to deselect the dual head option.

Saved the day - woohoo! :)
