obviously for linux...........if it help any i use Yoper

also i am new to linux......................so if you could point me in the direction of an rpm..that would be great....................tar.gz's always bomb out on me during make..................

Chinaman's suggestion, NVU, the extended Mozilla, is useful.
You may not even need more than the basic Mozilla homepage editor, if it is basic HTML. Also, OpenOffice.org has a homepage/HTML editor.
You should be able to find them with the package manager. What is the distribution?

I just installed Nvu, it was compiled with gcc 2.95, but runs just fine with my gcc 3.3. It seems to be a very good web building program, not as close to dreamweaver or frontpage as I was hoping, but close enough to be pretty easy to figure out.

If you want to take it one step further, you may want to have a look at my personal favorite, Bluefish or Screem.

The development of N|VU is still in progress, also on the tutorial / manual there is work to do, but the work is in progress.
It might not yet be like frontpage or dreamweaver, but it is the goal to reach it, or even if possible be better.

It is also mulit platform, Linux, Windows and MacOS X are supported.

You may wanna check out Quanta too. It's my personal fave and i use it pretty much every day. http://quanta.sourceforge.net/

does quanta do wysiwyg yet ? It was in project then got posponed....

I think it kinda sorta does. I can't really say for sure because I use it for PHP coding. FYI, in Quanta-speak the WYSIWYG editor is called VPL (although I can't remember what that stands for).
