wu-ftp not initialising

hi, sorry to be yet another noob, prolly quite a simple q on wu-ftp.

I have rpmed wu ver 2.6.2 onto my RH 8 server successfully, and am using Webmin as a GUI. Webmin recognises wu is installed, and all of the config files are in the correct location. However, when i click start server, it just refreshes the page, and no ftp is listed in the running processes.
I am using /var/ftp/pub as the anon root dir to try and keep it simple, although i will want to use a different directory once the ftp server is up. What additional setting up have I not done for it not to be working?
