wrong file types when browsing samba

I'm running samba on a debian distro. I'm using Konqueror on the linux side to browse my windows shares. Connections between machines are fine.

However, Konqueror shows all of the windows files, including subdirectories, as executables instead of their real file types (MP3's, JPG'2, html, etc.) Consequently, if I click on a subdirectory, say, Konqueror wants to execute it (ususally uner WINE.)

I'm guessing that I'm missing a setting somewhere but I don't know where else to look. How can I get Konqueror to display the correct file types?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes you were helpful!

I don't have Nautilus but I did try xfsamba under xfce. The file types displayed properly, which means, as you suggested, it may be a Konqueror issue.

Now, how to fix that...
