Wrong architecture

Hi! I'm new to Linux. I have the latest Ubuntu on x64. When I try to install Skype or Steam I get an error "wrong architecture i386".

Make sure that you follow directions for 64-bit.

I tried with Steam, there is no 64-bit direction there. The same error on there.
When I try with Skype it says that it needs some "skype-bin" package that cannot be installed.
