Writing from wine
My final goal of completely eliminating the M$ OS from my computer came so much closer today when I get Origin (plotting and analysis software from Microcal) running under wine. I am left with two problem, though. First, when trying to open a file in Origin it won't list the contents of whatever directory I'm in. This is no real bother, as I can type in a file name and it opens. The much bigger problem is that it crashes everytime I try to write a file.
I know the easist way of dealing with this is find a native open source program that has the same functionality, but I'm not keen on switching to something yet until I'm finished dealing with my old data. Is there anything I can do to allow me to save files (and the listing of files would just make life easier) when running Origin under wine?
As for the technical details, I'm running KDE3.1 in SuSE 8.2, my wine version is 20040121, and I'm running Origin 6.0 (natively installed in Win2k and copied over into Linux).
Thanks
