writer language captions

Had a problem installing openoffice and so followed instructions given to overcome that and it worked beautifully, Except that the captions for all actions are in "Asturiaru" which I assume is asturian spanish. Tried going into Tools-options-language settings [in asturian] - writing aids-edit, but nothing will alter it from asturian. Any suggestions?

The user interface is built-in, so you can't change it; you can only change the languages supported for your documents. In other words, you installed the wrong copy of Office and will have to do it again. Some distros can have problems — I've been given the Ukrainian and Chinese versions — but it's rare. Exactly how did you install, and was it really OpenOffice or LibreOffice?

if you are using OpenSUSE leap
you might want to use what is in the repos

getting OO or LO to look good in KDE on 42.1 leap can be "fun"

did you use the rpm or zypper command to install OO ?

update Zorin

Have temporarily [will see what 42.2 fixes] given up trying to use LEAP since can't get the installed [via dvd] OO to operate,
so have installed [on separate hdd - my laptop allows quick switching between hdds] Zorin, and all was great [even video players which
just won't work on LEAP], but after following OO install instructions on web site got this foreign language openoffice.
Assume that it is the default for Zorin and if can't fix then shall have to try to find where the English version is located.
Realize few here familiar with Zorin, but if happen to think of something that might work would be greatly appreciative.

you do need to do a vender change to "packman" from opensuse-updates and from oss
packman has the multimedia codecs and libraries

i have had no issues with the default gmplayr ( mvp) and Smplayer gui i like
nor any issues with vlc nor rythombox

With respect to Zorin, that comes with LibreOffice rather than OpenOffice. Which did you install? If you used OpenOffice, did you get it from here?

update

In Zorin I installed OpenOffice and got it from someone on OO site replying to how to install it, and just followed the commands provided; came out great except in wrong language.

The web-page I gave a link to asks you for your language. Did you get it from a different site?

Thank you DavidMcCann for making certain had to delete the asturian copy that had in place, and for your site prompt where I downloaded and installed the english version of OO -- everything now works great.
