without being arsey... why do you need one? i don't even need to use the slit at all.... not a single thing i would want to put in it. everything i use goes from a frequently changing popup menu or just from a console... it's a nice feeling being able to get all those little things working, but it's even nicer realising you don't really want them!

I understand what you are saying but I haven't quite reached the point where I can do without my places to click, seeing as I'm so new to Fluxbox. I'm sure they will go ... the clock will be gone in about 5 minutes. I've got a rather nice Timex on my wrist. wmmixer is useful and the mini cdplayer is cute. xmms -w is just there as a test. It'll go. They'll all go. But not yet.
My popup menu is getting more functional as each wmclock timed minute passes.
I need to know what I can have before I can decide what I don't want but..yes..Slit starts to die soon!

If you want to have icons on your desktop (where you also can mount / unmount stuff) use roxfiler http://rox.sourceforge.net.
To make it use icons, in your .xsession or .xinitrc add:
rox --pinboard=mypinboard -o &

Is there a way of opening files in given software after mount - e.g.~> mount /floppy (and then open the contents of that floppy in Konqueror)- but doing it on one command line? I'd like to try to put that command in my Flux menu or in gkrellm.
Boy! I'm having fun. ;)

help - I can't post. But this message proves I can so ignore it - if you haven't already! Sorry!

mount /floppy
konqueror /floppy
does what I want but how do I join the two commands together? I've typed in everything I know.
help!
I still love Flux!

just use "mount /floppy && knockerer /floppy" as an entry, should be fine

Fantastic!!! Thanks acid_kewpie. I imagined that the syntax would be something like that (which was why I could not guess it!) - who'd have thought that && was the answer?
I must find a good online source of command and command syntax - staring into space and guessing is no longer the answer.
Thanks.
