Would like to learn how to install and use IRC?
Would like to learn how to install and use IRC? What IRC is best? Where can I get it? Note: best has alot to do with how easy/fast I can get it running consiering my noobishness)
Go to Apt4RPM and grab the rpms for Fedora. Follow the instructions to install it. Then, when it's all up and running, either drop in to a command line and (as root) type in apt-get install<programname> or type in apt-get install synaptic - Synaptic is the gui for apt-get and you can select programs from a menu.

For those reading this post for a solution:
I installed synaptic using
apt-get install synaptic
I installed XChat by going into the synaptic selection list (left side of the pane) under the section "Applications\Internet" and selecting XChat. Then I clicked "download". In Fedora/RedHat, XChat seems to put a link under the
"Start" menu (Hat) --> Internet --> More Internet Programs --> IRC Chat
