Wolfenstine --- X Server appears irreperible...

I've been trying to get wolfenstine ( 3 ) working on linux. I've found a couple of tutorials, and to cut a long story short, I have a full directory, with the latest patch installed, and the ati driver (?) for linux ( ati radion 9600 ).

When in the terminal I type : wolf, if appears to start to load, however the screen just goes black, it then exits back to terminal. The terminal says try running it with + set ( software gl command ? ), so i've tried that, same as before, but wolf doesnt exit , the xserver crashs, and wont start up again when I reboot.

running radhat 9.0, with wolf patch 1.33, radion 9600 with the redhat VESA generic driver aswell as the ati linux 9600 driver.

Any ideas ?

did it work ok after you added the ati driver? and just went bad after trying to run wolfenstine?

if so, try running xf86config and respecifying the properties of your display et al.
