WMV not working

I am trying get some of my wmv videos to play in xine, but it's not working. I downloaded all of the codecs from the mplayer site, and installed them. xine is finding the codecs, but it said the videos were encrypted. I took them to a windows box, to try my luck, but it said i needed to get some certificates to view them. is there any way to get these "certificates" so they will play on linux?

Usually the only way to get said certificates is to pay the copyright holder.
Some video vendors use such encryption to keep people from
pirating their commercial videos.

To tell you the truth, I don't know. I've never purchased video. I think I'll have to go do some reading =)
