wmbiffrc password containing special characters

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get wmbiff to check my IMAP mailbox which is connected to an exchange server through davmail. So, the mail server "lives" on localhost:1143.

How do I get my password into the following line:
Code:
path.4=imap:user:password@server
when the password contains special characters (like $, etc.)? It looks like wmbiff can't understand it. I get the following error:

imap4: IMAP Login failed: a001 NO LOGIN failed
imap4: All authentication methods failed for 'user@localhost:1143'

I've tried with '' and "" but the result is the same.

TIA
