wish "ABORTED" tcl/tk 8.4 gentoo 1.4

i am running gentoo 1.4 with a 2.4 kernel on gnome 2.4 (not that it makes any difference)

i have recently been trying to get GDESKLETS to work, emerging various things, PyOpenGL pygtk gnome-python etc

however that isnt the problem

when i emerge PyOpenGL i recieved an error about tcl being a different version to libtcl, so, i emerged a new version of both, this is when the problems started.

i use amsn, as my IM client, as many of you would know, amsn is tcl/tk based and uses the wish program as a window handler

when i goto run amsn (or any other tcl/tk program) i recieve the console message "ABORTED"

then are returned to a prompt

here is teh core dump of wish:
Code:
Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/wish'

(no debugging symbols found)...Core was generated by `wish /usr/bin/amsn'.
Program terminated with signal 6, Aborted.

i have reverted to teh old version of tcl/tk that i was using, still no luck, i have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling every version that i can find, still no luck, hence i do not believe it to be a problem with the software

i have been unable to find any help on the net, and unable ot find decent faq or manuals on wish, hence i have turned to linuxquestions, in the hope that my problems will be solved

it is fairly urgent that i get wish reworking again, as p2p communication and large conference groups serve a large part of my daily schedule, mainly working on projects, both hobbyist and otherwise, i am using gaim as a replacement atm, however, amsn i so much nicer than gaim

thanks in advance
