WineX socket error

Trying to use WineX that I compiled from the cvs to install Steam to play counter-strike. Whenever I do from console
winelauncher SteamInstall.exe
I get a popup box saying.
wine: exists lstat socket : No such file or directory
Wine failed with return code 1

I check the documentation and I'm pretty sure the Steam is supported by this version, since I dled it this morning. What did I do wrong?

Ok, so I got the socket error fixed, however, now for some unknown reason whenever I try to install steam w/ the steaminstaller, I get a popup saying
Could not initialize installation. System DLLs corrupt or missing. Module not found.

I'm a little confused cuz I think I have my wine config file pointing to my windows partition to look for dlls, and windows definately works fine.

I have also attempted to install starcraft to see if ti was just a Steam thing, and I get lots of errors in the console that all go something like

err:module: *blah**blah* Main exe initialazation for *blah**blah* failed.

Could you tell me how you got the socket error fixed.

The only way I found it is by starting wineserver then start wine, but I get the following errors:

Quote:
[xavier@localhost .wine]$ wineserver
[xavier@localhost .wine]$ wine
wine client error:2: version mismatch 93/94.
Your wineserver binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running?
Quote:
[xavier@localhost .wine]$ wineserver -d
Server: support for __WALL in wait4 found
sock_init: shutdown() causes EOF
Server: starting (pid=6146)
[xavier@localhost .wine]$ wine
0000:: *fd* 0 -> 9

0002:: init_thread( unix_tid=6147, teb=0xb7fe4a60, entry=(nil), reply_fd=7, wait_fd=9 )
0002:: init_thread() = 0 { pid=0001, tid=0002, boot=1, version=93 }
wine client error:2: version mismatch 93/94.

wineserver: Error on distributed command: 10

Please help...
