MasterC, i would've PMed you, but i guess PM's are disabled on this forum?

anyway, ive just noticed something in that guide.
$ cvs login
(You will be asked for a password, just hit enter on it)

there they say wtf? isn't it in the next command they tell us to issue seems to be correct:
$ cvs -z3 co wine

i don't spose that by some WILD chance that typo (at least i think it is?) on their behalf could be causing the issue?

EDIT: i just tried your way, but when i say no to a local config file, there is no /etc/.wine directory...WTF?!!!!

Yeah, I saw that error before I continued and fixed the typo, so that really had nothing to do with our problems...

Gonus has answered a thread around here about Porting Everquest, so I asked him about the paid version, he said it works great, no problems getting it rolling, and it's only 15 bucks for 3 month subscription...

Check out the thread, and maybe ask gonus a few more questions, he's one of the only people I've noticed that has the paid version.

HELL YER!!!!! I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!

how i got it working:
i did the ./tools/wineinstall and got to the part where it asks me if i want it to create a config file, say no.
then copy everything from ~/wine/documentation/samples to ~/.wine and modify any parts to your needs.
then create these directories:
.wine/c_drive/program files

In the guide that i was following for this bit, it told me to do this:
The last thing you need is a wine registry, go to $HOME/wine and type:
./programs/regapi/regapi setValue < winedefault.reg
This will create a default registry.

but i couldn't find any ./programs/regapi/regapi file?!!!! WTF?!!! maybe you know how about this???
well, anyway i just skipped that step in hope that it would still work...and it does!!!!!!!! im having some problems with installing Half Life
i go: wine /mnt/cdrom/SETUP.EXE
and i get this following screen:
see that little error box, that is EMPTY wtf?!!!
this may be of some help? the output from the xterm:
The last thing you need is a wine registry, go to $HOME/wine and type:
bash-2.05a$ wine /mnt/cdrom/SETUP.EXE
err:win:WIN_FindWndPtr window 10021 belongs to other process

maybe thats of some help at all?
