WineX hell

yes im in hell with winex install.. im trying to install from cvs ive even tryed older cvs trees(think thats the word) and it keeps producing the same error

during the install it'll produce this at the end when the configurator comes up

this is at the end..
-
Preparing to install default Wine registry entries...
Installing default Wine registry entries...

programs/regapi/regapi: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Registry install failed.
-

if you try to execute winex of course you get the same error
wine: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

so is there anyway to fix this... ive tryed looking for teh missing librarie with no luck

well.. another problem came up.. getting wineX up and running and making sure my video drivers work well with accel was the last thing on my list and i hit it.. since ive hit a brick wall with wineX i deciced to test my drivers.. btw i have a Radeon 7500
so i install Quake3 from my retail windows cd correctly
i install the new point release 1.32 and then its time to try it, or so i thought when i ended up starting it my screen went black for a bit then im able to move my mouse around like it was a virtual desktop and its still half black were quake3 covered

does anyone know what is going on?

[edit] yes i do have the correct dri drivers installed [edit]

I had this exact problem (but installing from the Quake 3 linux CD).

However, I found that running q3.smp worked great for some reason (I think its q3.smp or quake3smp)...give it a try and see.

The free version of WineX doens't come with nessecary libraries, such as libntdll.so because of some legal reasons.

If you subscribe to Transgaming (pay) you'll be able to get the WineX RPM which has the libraries or get them through other sources.

I believe that libntdll.so is in the RPM of WINE so if you download and install that it should work.

Hope I was of help.
