winex cvs

ive always been a huge hater of windows and after i had to reformat for a 37th time (literally) i decided to totally drop it and just install linux, i now have redhat 9.0 and i couldnt be happier... well i guess i could... i am a very avid pc gamer and migrating to linux is a real kick in the... you hat my point... anyway now all i can play is unreal tournament 2K4

i recently read an article about a company that made a program called "winex" which replicated the windows enviroment with direct X support for games... unfortunately this is $5 a month unless yoiu know how to compile the cvs tree...in which case it is free... being a windows nerd running linux... i have no idea what a cvs tree is... nor how to compile it so i guesss i just want to know is what is this cvs thing and how do i get this program for free by compiling it???

please post instructions in detail... im very much a linux

Hi,

Check out the Transgaming site:

http://www.transgaming.com/sources.php

Be sure to read terms and conditions before you dive in:

http://www.transgaming.com/license.php?source=1

Good luck.

Cheers,
Tim

To checkout a new CVS respository:

1. cvs -d:pserver:cvs@cvs.transgaming.org:/cvsroot login
2. When prompted for the password enter "cvs"
3. cvs -z3 -d:pserver:cvs@cvs.transgaming.org:/cvsroot co winex

Look in the winex directory for a README or INSTALL file which should tell you how to build.

The alternative is wine, which has always worked better for me than winex.
