WineX Conspiracy against me

I dont understand how people get winex to emulate ANY game as good, or better, that in windows. In windows i play Quake 3 Arena at 1024x768 on highest settings and get 70-90fps CONSTANTLY, no lagging or freezing, i put in in linux i get 20-30fps lagging and crap. I dont understand, its not my system or it wouldnt work in Windows, thats for sure, anyways heres my setup:

ATi Radeon 7200 64mb SDRam
AMD Duron 800mhz
192 SDRam
40 gig Maxtor HD 7200 rpm
Transgaming WINEX(the only wine i cant ACTUALLY get to work, however the type shouldnt effect this situation)

Is there tweaking involved, i heard ou had to edit a lot of files, i mean can some one throw me a fricking bone here.

FOA, Quake can be run natively in linux with windows CD there's a point release for it on server; secondly, what version of transgaming winex do you use (free CVS tree or pay-per-month release)?
