Do this since running winex as root is not the correct way.

$ rm -fr ~/.wine
$ mkdir ~/.wine
# cp /root/.wine/config.new /home/you/.wine/config
# chmod 666 /home/you/.wine/config
$ pico (or whatever you use to edit files) /home/you/.wine/config (set up the config)

$ wine

Look for errors after you run wine, if you get a wine usage screen then everything is good. If you deleted the config.new in roots wine dir ther is another in /usr/src/wine/documentation/samples/config. You can even just take that one.

$ wine install.exe setup.exe (install program now)
