I want to use Wine to run my windows programs side-by-side with my windows programs. I have an existing windows partition with everything I need on it.
Is there any way to get wine to run the programs directly off the windows partition without re-installing them in linux?
Normally, you run a Windows program (including installer) by simply double-clicking the .exe in the GUI---or by entering "wine <filename>.exe" in a terminal.
Will it work with the .exe in an NTFS partition? As I said, try it.
I have tried to run an exe in a ntfs partition with wine -- result - no go . having said that my windoze is on a separate drive and is accessed via samba share
... as always, you can ask your question here and read various opinions of members of this board. Or, you can read the documentation written by developers of software in question and get a definitive answer. Latter is faster, too. http://www.winehq.com/site/docs/wine...CH-VERSIONS-OK
