winecfg, pauses for minutes before loading

I've never had this problem before, it doesn't matter which version of wine i'm running. I'm not sure what the last ting i did before it happend was. I've tried removing it completly then reinstalling it (removetgz). I've tried deleting the .wine folders. I noticed windisrvr pop up every now and then in top while trying to run winecfg. I have a feeling that its waiting for something to time out while inizializing. Anyone know how i can find out for sure?

it doesn't matter if i run winecfg as root, or as a user. I'm using a custom 2.6.15.2 kernel, kde 3.5.2 with slackware 10.2
